Jeremiah Hubbard's Mustang isn't getting much use right now, but that's OK. He's busy performing a complete restoration on the car that he purchased seven years ago from his great uncle for $1,500 with some financial help from his dad. Having been in storage for more than 10 years, the big-block GTA that was optioned with factory A/C and disc brakes was in dire straits with a lot of rust. The desirable fastback was headed straight for a full restoration, and Jeremiah, who has two years of collision-repair schooling at Bendavis High School Area 31, was up to the task.

Jeremiah further explained his project in a follow-up e-mail. "My dad purchased about $1,000 worth of sheetmetal from a local Mustang vendor for me. I replaced the floor pans and seat supports, inner cowl panel, right-front inner-fender apron, torque boxes, and front framerails.

"At this point in the restoration, I joined the Marine Corps as a mechanic for four years (2002 to 2006). During that time, I had to put my car on hold. Once I got out of the Marines, I picked up where I left off. I have a long way to go, but it will be worth it when my dream car is complete. Thanks to your magazine and all of your sponsors for your Young Owners club."

Year One was founded more than 25 years ago from the desire to preserve classic automobiles and provide like-minded people with a single source for products and information. The company has grown from supplying parts for Pontiac Firebirds to becoming a multimarque supplier with 18 distinct catalogs, including ones for classic and late-model Mustangs. The philosophy and work ethic that created Year One in the basement of Len Athanasiades' home are still there and still work. Every customer is treated as a friend, and the company always remembers that the people in the garages and driveways working on these special cars form the backbone of the automotive hobby.
