If you've been driving classic Mustangs and vintage Fords with a stick shift for any time at all, you know the old bellcrank-style clutch linkage poses all sorts of challenges. If your objective is to build the muscles in your left leg, terrific. A 3,000-pound Borg & Beck racing clutch will get the job done. But what if your clutch linkage isn't up to the stress that a 3,000-pound pressure clutch dishes out? The long arm of the bellcrank is typically the first to fail, folding over and twisting itself out of shape. Next thing you know, no clutch disengagement.

Danny Banh of D.B. Performance Engineering is something of a classic Mustang whiz kid. He has shown most of us how to adapt late-model technology to an old Mustang with great success. Thanks to Danny's example, more and more of us are converting our vintage rides to 5.0L EFI power. But Danny has more ideas up his sleeve than just adapting EFI technology to an old Ford. He has a few ideas in between--like the Cable Clutch Conversion Kit from D.B. Performance Engineering.

Installation is not that difficult, and once you're finished, driving a manual shift classic Mustang will be nothing short of a walk in the park because pedal effort will be reduced considerably. We're going to show you the basics of a cable clutch linkage conversion, including all of the parts involved and the Centerforce diaphragm-style clutch.
