Because we were blueprinting our 302, Larry concluded everything had to be checked. With a torque plate bolted to the block deck to simulate the installation of a cylinder head, Larry honed the bores and checked them for trueness with a dial indicator. The torque plate distorts the block to where it will be with a cylinder head installed. Believe it or not, torquing a cylinder head changes the dimension of the decks and the bores.
